Boardsi Review

Who is boardsi and what do they do? I will be taking a close look into DBA boardsi (ExecMagic, LLC), you can find boardsi at boardsi.com

I came across boardsi through a colleague who was approached by them as he has been a CEO for the past 14 years and has had an interest in being part of an advisory board. I have learned that the process of finding a board position or advisory position can be more difficult than pursuing traditional employment. The main reason boardsi peaked my interest was they claim to have a network of advisory and board positions readily available for executives and a seamless way to apply, so I decided to dive in and do some research.

On the initial call I went through about a 20 minute presentation which was informative and caught more of my interest. Prior to the call I did some research and noticed they had testimonials about their service and I asked if there was a process of speaking directly with any of their clients. They informed me they don’t prefer to divulge their clients information because of privacy issues, which I can respect and could imagine that being emailed or called over and over would be a lot after a while. I decided at this point not to pry for phone numbers or anything and chose to simply do my own research. I did find executives and their company’s online on my own (not that hard) and reached out to them.

To make it easy for anyone else, their testimonials are real people and they did verify who boardsi is and what they do or did for them. I can confirm that Jim who had written one of their testimonials from O1 Communications was happy with what boardsi has done for him. I can also confirm that Shamrock one of the many organizations in their network  is a real company and they are in search of board members and they did find Danny P. after interviewing him and other executives that applied through the boardsi network. After their own internal vetting process they made an offer to Danny which he accepted and Danny also confirmed that the connection did happen through the boardsi platform.

Surprisingly the first part of my research matched exactly with what my boardsi representative presented to me , now what about their platform? How does it work?  There was a secondary step after the initial phone call with an onboarding specialist who went through an interview with me. This call I could see was to highlight my strengths, what I could bring to organizations and to better match up opportunities I would be interested in. Shortly after my interview I received more boardsi platform information through an email from a Success Manager. A few days after my boardsi interview I received a notification regarding a new opportunity and I also logged in and browsed through the available positions on the boardsi platform. What I saw was exactly what the initial presentation detailed.  I saw paid board positions, paid advisory positions, a few volunteer board positions and a hand full of CXO full time positions. From what I have seen and heard it matched up, boardsi is a platform that provides board and advisory opportunities. One thing to keep in mind like other job platforms there are no guarantees that you will get hired, but the application process is simple and the success manager is there to help out, I guess that ‘s why they call it an opportunity platform.

Overall I think this is a great opportunity platform for anyone that is looking for board positions and definitely a good platform for companies that are looking for executives. They did mention that they are working on a major upgrade to their platform so I will review boardsi one more time when that goes live. I did mention to them that boardsi will be reviewed and they were excited about the opportunity and I also hope this helps some executives out.
