Brexit and the Scope of Security Companies in Bristol

The simple question asked through a referendum-a public vote on 23rd June 2016 in UK has caused a chaos all over. The question put forward to the public was whether they want UK to stay in the European Union (EU) or not. The ratio was 52:48% with the former one being in favor of leaving EU and the latter one against it. Clearly, UK had a decision to work upon. However, it is not that easy to just disassociate yourself from EU, and so the government has been working on it till date. The discussions have evaluated the procedure but not the after effects at large. The process is still going on before things are finalized, but one thing is certain; if the decision of Brexit (British Exit from the EU) sustains, the UK industries will suffer at large.

Among many other industries, security industry, such as security companies in Bristol will be affected significantly. There are a number of reasons why Brexit would impact the private security companies. Some of them are discussed below for you to have an idea of how exactly a decision as huge as this one can affect industries at large:

  1. Immigration & Labors: one of the major demands behind the whole agreement is to have full immigration rights. While this can be beneficial in certain ways and for specific groups, it seems like security industry is one of its main targets. The reason behind it is that security industry works majorly on labor force which comprises of workers within UK and EU alongside other neighboring countries. A Large number of these workers are immigrants and can work due to the fact that they have EU residence. If the immigrants system is changed, it will be extremely difficult to find labor force.
  2. Service Industry: the trade between the EU countries is something we all are aware of. If Brexit is finalized, the trade market will be affected deeply, especially the trade in service industry. Bristol Security companies are a major part of service industry and if service industry will be badly affected, there is clearly no chance of saving security industry from it.
  3. Technology: once the above-mentioned thing happens, getting security services will be very expensive. Hence, owners of large business and companies would probably look for technological interventions which can save their money. Also, with the pace that our world is developing, it will hardly take any time for them to come up with hard tech which will beat man power and there will soon come a time when security companies might not even be needed at all. This all is only possible if the service rate increases, which will most probably happen with Brexit.

All these possible impacts are just some of the many ways in which this decision can affect various industries in general and private security companies in particular. However, it largely depends on owners of the corporate sector that how they deal with the situation. Also, everything is just a rational approach towards a situation that may arise, so let’s hope for the best!
